Medicare Today: Lead regional Medicare Part D public relations, education and training effort in Washington and region on behalf of Medicare Today, a national non-profit. Held over 30 training events and garnered 14 media hits. Organized and executed 40+ educational community events for Medicare beneficiaries including a large-scale enrollment event in downtown Seattle.
US Telecom Association: Created Washington State based coalition to join national campaign Future... Faster. Executed grassroots lobbying strategy on telecom issues, including letter writing, lobbying Congress and organizing publicity events.
Northwest Healthcare Roundtable: Created this vibrant coalition of strong patient advocates to broaden awareness and understanding of health issues among the media, general public and key elected leaders - particularly in targeted markets and legislative districts.
Re-elect Richard Conlin, 2005: General Consultant for successful Richard Conlin for Seattle City Council race. Provided campaign oversight and strategy.
Strobel Family Investments: Created a marketing campaign for two developments owned by the Strobels: Lacey Town Square and Southgate Mall in Tumwater. Directed Strobel Family Properties public relations and lobby effort to save their property and Meal Makers restaurant in City of Burien.
Washington State Department of Health: Part of team that produced web-based tobacco youth cessation campaign (www.unfilteredtv.com, www.tobaccosmokesyou.org). Created content and directed web redesign.
Washington Wildlife and Recreation Coalition: Created two new income production events, prioritized potential donors, and provided direction and assistance meeting fundraising goals; drafted fundraising appeals, emails and materials; created fundraising work plan; set up logistics for events.
Pfizer: Implemented lobbying and outreach strategy for Pfizer Inc. in Washington, Oregon and Idaho. Lobbied health groups for partnerships/alliances with the company, built issue-based networks of support, and assisted with legislative advocacy through creating events, letter writing and lobby days.
Seattle-Tacoma International Taxi Association (STITA): Legislative relations and public affairs services to STITA (Seattle Tacoma International Taxi Association) on issues before the Port of Seattle, City of Seattle, King County and the State of Washington, including negotiating STITA's contract with the Port and the transition to natural gas vehicles.
"Yes Skagit Valley Hospital" Bond Campaign: General Consultant on successful Mount Vernon "Yes Skagit Valley Hospital" $63 million Bond campaign, which increased property taxes to provide a hospital renovation. It passed with 67%. Provided campaign oversight and strategy.
Parks for All - Citywide Bond: Directed successful "Parks for All" Bond campaign, which increased property taxes to provide $200 million for developing and maintaining parks in Seattle. Managed full time staff of eight, consultants, volunteers, and steering committee.
American Cancer Society: Created Washington State legislative advocacy and grassroots plan for 2004-2005 session and BREATHE advocacy programs. Provided strategic advice, network, and report.
American Heart Association: Conducted an all day advocacy media training & workshop for ten western states of the American Heart Association's Advocacy Directors.
City of Seattle Parks - Woodland Park Zoo: Created outreach plan for Woodland Park Zoo Marketing and Development Department. Developed dynamic Power Point presentation, and list of key constituency groups.
Experience Music Project: Coordinated twelve EMP "sneak preview" events for potential sponsors and civic & business leaders for Experience Music Project (Paul Allen's rock music museum).
Flexcar: Part of strategic marketing team. Created strategies and partnerships between businesses and housing, civic and work related organizations and companies for Flexcar JARC program grant.
Paul Flemings Steakhouse: Produced six wine columns for Paul Flemings Steakhouse for use in newspapers and magazines to promote Fleming's wine experts.
Consumer Education and Training Services (CENTS): Created a comprehensive marketing plan and provided direction and assistance for soliciting potential sponsors of various CENTS products and services.
Pike Brewing & Pub/Merchant du Vin: Created a marketing plan for brewery in Pike Place Market. Conducted an annual employee satisfaction survey for Merchant du Vin production, national sales and marketing staff. This included devising the survey, sending out the information (electronically), tallying the results and reporting back to the president.
Sound Transportation Coalition: Lobbied Washington legislature on behalf of Sound Transportation Coalition, made up of community & industry leaders searching for solutions and funds for transportation problems including Washington state ferries.
Port Commission Races: Managed all aspects of Jack Block, Clare Nordquist and Fletch Waller election campaigns for Port Commission, including fund-raising, direct mail, and press relations.
Olympic Pipeline Sighting: Directed a field team for Texaco's Olympic Pipeline during an EFSEC and EIS sighting process in an effort to sight an underground petroleum pipeline. Hired a paid staff of six statewide organizers.
Seattle Seahawks Stadium Campaign: Created newsletter and education materials for grassroots correspondence. Responsible for all aspects of a 20,000-person kick-off at Kingdome. Organized sponsorships by King County KJR sports radio, Ogden Foods, and Miller Beer, as well as, game day events, public outreach, and press.
Seattle Mariners Ballpark Campaign: Organized twelve public meetings in three weeks for the Seattle Mariners stadium project. Served as the spokesperson (coupled with a local business person or celebrity) at each event.
American Nurses Association: Directed Nurses Strategic Action Team grassroots lobbying effort in 9 states for national health care reform, including letter writing, lobbying Congress, and organizing publicity events.
Yes Dupont: Political consulting and strategy in successful bid to raise property taxes from $0.33 to $1.33 per $1000 of assessed value.
League of Women Voters, WA: Developed media list for project covering targeted reporters in media markets across the state including AP, newspapers, radio, and television. Drafted news releases and advisories at strategic points before, during and at end of project according to the media plan.
Committee for Washington's Future: Part of a team of two who raised $1.5 million in less than twelve weeks for the Committee for Washington's Future.
